Traveling during the winter can be a challenge, especially when it comes to figuring out what to wear on an airplane. With the constant changes in temperature and the need to stay comfortable during a long flight, it can be difficult to know what to wear and how to pack. I’m all about about comfort and versatility. That translates into layers, wearing comfortable shoes, and taking advantage of accessories that can serve multiple purposes. I know so many of you are traveling right now – and I’ll also be traveling later this month. So, I wanted to talk about my style hacks that will have you feeling comfortable and stylish without any worries.
Light layers are key…
It’s important to dress in layers when traveling in the winter. The temperature on the plane can fluctuate, so I love having options to add or remove as needed. A cozy sweater or a long-sleeved shirt paired with a lightweight jacket or cardigan are some of my favorite combinations. This way you can adjust your outfit to the weather at your destination. I usually opt for the fewest amount of layers if I’m visiting somewhere warm, like Florida.
Wear your heaviest coat
If I’m traveling to a ski resort, I’m never without my bulkiest coat, which is usually my Max Mara Teddy Bear coat. It’s the one I wear in order to save space in my luggage and avoid expensive baggage fees. Once I’m en route, I love using it as a blanket or pillow for extra cushion.
Keep it simple with leggings and sets
As much as I love joggers and sweatpants, I’m not one for wearing them in flight – especially if I have somewhere to be once I land. Leggings or cozy sets are usually what I resort to as I can easily elevate them with a blazer or wool jacket. If I need to go from the airport to an event or meeting, a great pair of jeans usually do the trick.
Carry a cashmere scarf to stay warm
Trying to stay warm and chic is definitely a balancing act. To up the warmth without sacrificing style, a cashmere scarf is my secret weapon. They’re not only lightweight and soft, but trap heat close to the skin, keeping you warm in cold temperatures. They can also be worn in many different ways, providing extra versatility no matter where you’re headed.
Opt for comfy shoes
Another important factor to consider when traveling in the winter is your footwear. You’ll want to wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off, as you’ll need to remove them during security check-in. A pair of comfortable sneakers is foolproof. But if you’re looking for something a bit more stylish, try pairing a pair of combat or chelsea boots with your outfit.
